With the support and encouragement policies of the State, as well as the efforts of domestic mechanical units, up to now, Vietnam’s mechanical industry has made great strides in localizing equipment for industries.

Wide range of products, high quality

Mechanical engineering is a fundamental industry, which is paid special attention by the Party and State, has strategic significance for fast and sustainable development, helps to improve the competitiveness of products, and increases the attractiveness of mechanical engineering from foreign direct investment as well as ensuring the economy’s ability to deeply and effectively participate in the global production and distribution network, contributing to sustainable and long-term economic growth.

Fortunately, over the past time, the design, processing and manufacturing capabilities of domestic mechanical units have been gradually improved, the scientific research force, management, and skilled workers have grown stronger. Mechanical products are diversely localized with high quality, meeting domestic and international standards. Many products have been ordered by foreign partners for domestic projects as well as exported to foreign countries.

At the forefront of equipment localization, the National Institute of Mechanical Engineering (NARIME) – a unit with many years of experience in the field of technology consulting, design and manufacture of equipment for material conveying systems for industrial plants such as material transportation system, materials for Nhan Co bauxite factory and Tan Rai bauxite factory; systems for transporting ash, slag and dust filtration systems for Thai Binh 1 and Nghi Son 2 plants, coal supply systems for Song Hau 1 Thermal Power Plant, etc.

In addition, the Institute of Industrial Machines and Instruments (IMI), the Institute of Mining Science and Industry – Metallurgy… are units with extensive experience in consulting, technology design, manufacturing design such as spare parts and equipment for rotary kiln cement line such as bag dust filter, electrostatic precipitator, cement bagging line.

Some Vietnamese enterprises have also been able to design and manufacture motors with a capacity of up to 5MW, transformers up to 500kV, with quality equivalent to European products of the same type, making Vietnam one of few countries in Southeast Asia are capable of manufacturing large capacity transformers.

Capable of being a general contractor for large projects

According to the assessment of the Ministry of Science and Technology, currently a number of domestic mechanical engineering units are capable of being general contractors for large projects worth billions of USD, some products have reached similar quality standards. equivalent to imported products, eligible for export to compete with foreign products.

Dr. Phan Dang Phong – Director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering – shared that up to now, the Institute has been a reliable partner of many multinational corporations such as Honda, Toyota, Doosan… as well as domestic corporations such as EVN, TKV, VinGroup. Some products and solutions of the Institute have directly competed and won bids from large foreign companies that the Institute had previously participated in as subcontractors.
