Ho Chi Minh City, 17 July 2017 – MTA VIETNAM2017 (MTV2017) - The premier and most comprehensive trade event for Vietnam’s manufacturing and metalworking industry concluded on an upbeat note on 7 July 2017 at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), with more attendees than ever before and the largest floor space to date.
The four-day expo housed a total of 429 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions spread across 12,000 square meters of exhibition space, showcasing the latest high-tech precision engineering and machine tool technologies available in the global marketplace. This included 11 international group pavilions from Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
Nearly 10,400 trade visitors from 30 countries and regions made their way to visit the show to observe countless machines in action and get unbeatable face time with top names in the manufacturing industry. The top five overseas visiting countries and regions were: Korea, Japan, Thailand, China and Singapore.
“Once again, MTA VIETNAM ended on an uptick and we are extremely pleased that the feedback from both exhibitors and visitors alike is positive. Exhibitors enjoyed increased traffic and huge business opportunities
Networking opportunities were abundant at MTV2017. Exhibitors got the chance to immerse themselves in a multitude of insightful discussions with visitors who had expressed great interest in their live displays of cutting-edge machine tools and technologies. Exhibitor satisfaction towards the show was remarkably high, as the event set the stage for exhibitors to network with like-minded and potential counter-parts, forge valuable business contacts and generate viable sales leads.
The 15th edition also broke the record in terms of sales and successful deals, with “[email protected]” signs prominently displayed on many machines and equipment. Notable among sold machines included Huyndai WIA KF5600 - T.A.T Machinery, 3-axis corrugated machine - Growell Vietnam, NamSon Powercut150 - Namson Technology, Laser Marking Machine – Daviteq, and many more.
“We are very grateful to have sold three laser engraving machines during the show. Mr. Norbert Seo, Senior Vice President Market Division Asia and Australia, Sales – Bystronic expressed his thoughts on the event, echoing the views of many international exhibitors: “We are really happy to be here, this is the fourth time Bystronic has joined MTA VIETNAM. And we will definitely re-exhibit in the next edition in 2018 because this exhibition has become a truly important platform for us to reach a wide range of potential customers in this rapidly evolving industry.”

Overwhelming interest from group visitors
The event remains the leading focal point of the Vietnam’s burgeoning manufacturing sector. Close to 350 group delegations from top-notch technological companies, manufacturers and distributors leveraged the four-day expo on the lookout for inventive technologies, solutions and equipment for levelling up capabilities and productivity. Notable among them included: Phu My Fertilizer Plant, Fujukura Fiber Optics Vietnam, Kim Binh Industrial Corp, Samco Vina, Metkraft, Groz-Beckert, Daikou VN, Framas Vietnam, Phu Nhuan PNJ, Numatec, amongst numerous others. The substantial presence of industrialists, potential buyers and key decision-makers from many nations, together with their positive feedback have once again solidified the event’s position as the most influential trade show in Vietnam and the region.
“I have visited MTA VIETNAM four times and my first impression of MTV2017 is that the exhibit space was much bigger than the previous editions; the booths were well-displayed and nicely-decorated. We also loved the way we were warmly and professionally welcomed by the organizers. Also upbeat about the show was Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung - Mold Section Manager, Thien Long Group. “I always visit MTA VIETNAM individually, but this year we come to the exhibition as group delegation in hope of providing the company’s staff with the opportunity to learn and gain industry insights. The overall experience was good. We were pleasantly surprised to see a vast array of the latest equipment and machinery on the show floor. It was time well-spent and we can’t wait to visit the next edition in 2018!”, he said.
Valuable knowledge gleaned from the seminars
Apart from the most extensive array of exhibits, MTV2017 was also renowned for a string of seminars and workshops where nearly 350 high-profile delegates and thought leaders converged to synergize knowledge, foster industry learning and network for greater business potential.
Hosted by Taiwan Trade Center Inc., the seminar titled “Taiwan Machine Tools Industry – Shaping the World” brought together leading Taiwanese manufacturing solutions providers and manufacturers: Tong-Tai, Yeong Chin, Palmary and Hiwin in particular. Drawing the attendance of more than 80 participants, the seminar provided in-depth insight, thoughtful discussions and topical case studies on the Taiwan's rapidly expanding machine tool industry.
The conference program at MTV2017 also underlined how Industry 4.0 technologies can be implemented. At the seminars hosted by Lean Six Sigma Network and Multi Engineering Solutions Laboratory (MESLAB), delegates were imparted with a deeper and practical understanding into the new era of advanced manufacturing, as well as effective strategies to speed up productivity and improve business performance. The seminars drew a high level of delegate attendance, featuring a full roster of visionary speakers, unforgettable presentations and invaluable panel discussions.
Champions crowned at the Vietnam Welding Skills Competition
Vietnam Welding Skills Competition (VWSC) made a strong return to MTV2017 since its inception in 2013. Co-hosted by CIMA (American Welding Society International Agent), the competition taken place on 6 July 2017 was truly an ideal place for attendees looking to hone their competitive edge and welding expertise, as well as to network with experts and peers in the welding community.
After one glorious day with an action-packed series of welding challenges that kept audiences on the edge of their seats, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Dat from Petroleum College emerged victorious as the individual champion, where Petroleum College was also awarded to the best team performance.
