MTA VIETNAM 2019 - ORIENTING VIETNAMESE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY TOWARD THE ERA OF INDUSTRY 4.0

No longer an industrial trend, Industry 4.0 nowadays even orientates and forms the shape of manufacturing & metalworking industry in Vietnam; magnetizes businesses’ investment toward sustainable development. Inspired by the creativity and improvement of Industry 4.0, MTA Vietnam 2019 decided to apply the industrial revolution 4.0 factor to the show and offer a closer look to visitors. The 17th international Precision engineering, Machine tools and Metalworking exhibition makes its presence at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) from 2nd to 5th July, 2019.

The impact of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 on the current manufacturing and mechanical industries

Metalworking industry, one of the oldest industrial sectors and also a basis one, plays an important role in developing the society & economy and is getting stronger day by day. The number of metalworking businesses increased from 10.000 (2010) to 21.000 (2016); accounts for 28% of total manufacturing businesses. In 2016, the export turnover of metalworking products has also reached over US $ 16 billion, mainly for household appliances and spare parts for automobiles, motorcycles and metal production. The above results have partly contributed positively to the social - economic development and the industrialization and modernization of the country.

According to Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, “The Industrial Revolution” is spreading globally and setting up both challenge and opportunity for Vietnam to expand the economy and restructure the industry. Unfortunately, even the industrial revolution is right at the front door, most of Vietnamese enterprises still do not have a firm mind to deal with this innovation. According to World Economic Forum, Vietnam belongs to a group of countries that are not ready for the Industry 4.0, only ranked 70/100 in terms of human resources and 81/100 in terms of high skilled labor, innovation in technology and innovation (Technology & Innovation) only ranked 90/100 and ranked 92/100 for Technology Platform. The industry has many difficulties in digitizing and connecting data in enterprises, applying smart technologies and equipment in production lines, using data management systems, or not catching up. Advanced technology such as 3D printing, robots, etc. More than ever, businesses need to take strategic and well-invested steps for sustainable development based on the foundation of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
