LOOKING BACK AT A SUCCESSFUL MTA VIETNAM2018
Ho Chi Minh City, 12 July 2018 – MTA Vietnam2018, the Vietnam premier trade event for Precision Engineering, Machine tools and Metalworking concluded on a positive note on 6 July 2018 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), leaving many good impression on exhibitors and trade visitors as well as accurately reflecting the strong development of Vietnam’s precision engineering and manufacturing sector.
The four-day show recorded an impressive attendance of 11,131 trade visitors from 32 countries and regions - a healthy increase of 7.05 per cent from the previous edition, with more than 400 group delegations from many well-known associations such as Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC), Ho Chi Minh City Association of Mechanical – Electrical Enterprise, and companies like Allied Technologies, Chieng Shyong Vietnam, Mitsuei Vietnam, GD Battery Vietnam, Bao Bao, Mitsuba, and many other units.
Mr. BT Tee, General Manager of UBM Vietnam – The organizer of MTA Vietnam2018 shared: “On behalf of the organizing team, I would like to wish all attendees of MTA2018 many thanks for making this event the largest ever in its series and the largest precision engineering and manufacturing technology event in Vietnam. We have had 4 very productive exhibition and seminar days where we saw the highest number of CNC machine centres on display, an entire slew of new in Asia and new in Vietnam product displays which emphasises the importance of technology upgrades for productivity gains against global competition for Vietnam based manufacturers. MTA Vietnam2018 had a total of 383 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions spread across 12,500 square meters of exhibition space, showcasing the latest high-tech precision engineering and machine tool technologies available in the global marketplace. This year event included 13 international group pavilions from Germany, Japan, Korea (5), Singapore, Taiwan (3), Thailand and United Kingdom.
Mr. Patrick Kemnitz - General Director, TRUMPF Vietnam said: “This year we make the new step respect to reality, and comparing to the last year, MTA has a lot of interesting contents, and we feel the business in Vietnam is on going, so we are really proud to support Vietnamese customers here locally. Next year for MTA, we hope we will also have the nice booths, and we will show later technology, cutting-edge technology for the next year, so TRUMPF is in innovative eager, so we will pronounce our new technology. Moreover, we feel the organizer are really nice at conditions, we could move on our booths already on weekend, we feel really comfortable and really thankful for the support.”
Mr. Yukihito Kikuchi – General Director, AMADA Vietnam shared: “We see Vietnamese manufacturing industry is very positive and potential, because they are very eager to improve the products quality, and we would like to introduce more cutting-edge technology, because we developed every minutes, even now in Japan. I am also really excited about MTA Vietnam2018, and I see people here could expend their business, so I hope MTA Vietnam next year will be better, better and better.”
Mr. Norbert Seo – Senior Vice President Market Division Asia & Australia, Bystronic: “Every year, I see the positive trends of customers demands, especially customers are looking for more high-technology solutions, and compares to the last year, customers questions and their discussion become really interesting for us, so we are really excited for the next future. We also joined MTA Vietnam 6 times, and we hope that we could be here again.”

Mr. Tran Ngoc Cuong – Manager, MITSUBA CO., LTD shared: “I have visited MTA Vietnam for the first time. I already knew and attended MTA Hanoi which is a series of MTA Vietnam but take place in Hanoi. The main purpose of our visit to MTA Vietnam2018 was to look for machining centre, CNC machines, robot arm, etc. MTA Vietnam is a must-attended event for the manufacturing community. Our purpose of visit to MTA Vietnam2018 was to source for rubber gaskets and machine tools providers. We have contentedly found some potential suppliers with whom we will be discussing further after the show. I’m looking forward to the next show in the next year.”
An educational platform for business networking and knowledge sharing
Not merely a product showcase, the event was also packed with concurrent educational programs and technical seminar, gathering more than 260 delegates and industry experts, where delegates were able to learn, network and get immersed in industry insights and topical debates, as well as facilitated business and information exchange.
The “Taiwan Smart Machinery” conference organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) was attracted over 70 delegates and trade visitors. The conference noted the prominent presence of Mr. Jack Yang – Analyst – Topology Research Institute, Mr. Richard Su Section - Manager of Overseas Business Department, Taiwan Takisawa Technology, Mr. Marco Lee - Sale Manager from Tongtai Machine & Tool and others.
Lean Six Sigma Network was also on board with two seminars which attracted more than 140 delegates and trade visitors, hosted by renowned industry speakers - Dr. Nguyen Huu Thien, Former General Director, The Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (Ministry of Science and Technology), Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Testing Laboratories (VINALAB); Pham Thanh Dieu - Director of Continuous Improvement Consulting Company – CiCC; Assoc. Prof. Pham Ngoc Tuan - HCMC Association of Mechanical Engineering and the other well-known industry leaders.
Multi Engineering Solutions Laboratory (MESLAB) organized a conference at MTA Vietnam2018 entitled “New approaches and Tools for Manufacturing Creativity & Innovation in Industry 4.0 Era” with 53 delegations. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Tran Anh Tuan - CEO & Founder of MESLAB.
